Oak Street Primary Ensuite Bath

The Details

We extended the vintage modern mix of our Oak Street Project into the primary bath. We designed custom cabinetry with a gorgeous dark wood stain and inset shaker doors and drawers to fit the space seamlessly. To get the exact look we wanted, we teamed up with local carpenters. Thinking through sinks placement prior to construction allowed us to land on our ideal mirror and sconce configuration. Every detail in the space is important: bright walls, textural handmade tile, smooth concrete countertops and glossy porcelain tile. We carried vintage rugs throughout the home. Here the runner’s warm hues and geometric pattern mirror the tonality and style of rugs in the living & dining room and bedroom. Each room in this gorgeous historical home echos the other spaces in new and interesting ways.

Contemporary details
A clean and simple concrete countertop paired with a a wabi-sabi backsplash and contemporary sconces gave this historical home’s primary bath a modern bent.

Texture mix
Porcelain marble-look tile balance well with the vanity’s textural square backsplash (handmade zellige). We kept the room bright to help is visually feel as large as possible. The rich hues of the cabinetry as well as the warm metal of the plumbing fixtures and hardware bring in contrast and depth.

Earthly elements
The rich wood cabinetry and the soft wool rug bring in a natural softness that contrasts beautifully agonist the harder elements in the space: tile, concrete and metal. Nature-inspired vanity accessories create a focal point that blends with the relaxing feel of the space.
