Eclectic Living + Dining Rooms
The Details
An intersection of eclecticism, historical architecture and bold, modern aesthetic, this home truly is special. The owners’ taste is vibrant and authentic; they have a unique art collection and wanted to maintain the space’s integrity while elevating its form and function. We blended one-of-a-kind Swoon finds, contemporary fixtures and purposeful accents for a style that is irreproducible. Every room is a sibling – different, but clearly a part of the same family.
Space usage
Large rooms are wonderful but can be challenging to configure, especially in historical homes. Using the sectional to divide the space naturally, we achieved a lived-in feel and added functionality. We created a defined entrance area/dedicated focal point anchored by amazing artwork and a burl wood credenza. Dark wooden hues (and a snowboard to boot!) mix with a geometric blush rug balancing the dark-light contrast.
Dedicated focal points
Stand-out items like the vibrant velvet couch and contextual light fixture make this space; however, the repetition of tones and intentionally dedicated focal points enable it to flow. Black and ivory accents frame the fireplace and statement art anchors the credenza and dining areas for a polished, sophisticated feel.
A “collected room”
Playful silhouette lamps, mix & match vintage chairs and one-of-a-kind Swoon finds give these rooms personality and make them feel authentic. This is truly a “collected room,” meaning the intentionality of the sourcing helps it achieve a sense of visual unity; in other words, everything just goes together so well. And don’t underestimate the power of plants – they make everyone feel welcome.
